Perfecto Mobile Stats Show: Android was the Big Winner in Q3 2010

 
Android based smartphones were the most popular devices in the Perfecto Mobile Cloud, accounting for more than a third of handset usage time, in the 3rd quarter 2010. Perfecto Mobile offers developers the ability to remotely test their apps and websites on real devices via the web. According to Perfecto Mobile’s real time stats, the most popular operating system for testing in 3rd quarter of 2010 was Android (39%), followed by BlackBerry (35%), Symbian (18%) and Apple (8%). These stats are compatible with other market stats, such as Nielsen which show Android based smartphones buyers in the US rose to 32% from 28% of total smartphone purchases in the last 6 months.

 When breaking down the stats according to device model, one can see that the BlackBerry 9700 dominates, with 26% of all hours in the third quarter of 2010, making it the most-widely used device for remote testing on real devices. This was followed by Apple iPhone (22% of total hours) and BlackBerry 9000 (15% of total hours).
